Hi everyone.. It is Saturday morning here and I am just getting to write the update for Friday. We were a little wiped last night.. We went to Julie’s and Mike’s apartment with some other adopting parents for a spaghetti dinner, complete with tasty gravy, bread, local beer and topped it off with some fresh assortment of cakes. Of course they said it was not much, but we all thought it was excellent. A nice evening with a taste of home, a conversation in English with some really nice folks and a chance to see some other cute children all play.
After we got home and the kids to bed, either of us wanted to do anything but lay on the couch. Colene had night duty last night. This entails sleeping in the same room as the kids, taking care of the 1:30am feeding and changing any needed diapers during the night. Needless to say she did not sleep much. We just got finished with the 6am feeding and changing. She has headed off to the bedroom to catch up on her sleep, because before you know it, it will be feeding time all over again (Groundhog Day), I love that movie. I sat and played with them for a while (wish we had those swings here Mom). After about a 1/2hr with rattles, balls and bright colors, they were ready for a nap again. Whew.
Yesterday we broke out the strollers and took the kids on a little walk. We ventured about 2 blocks away were Emil had showed me a nice park with fountains where his parents walked him when he was a baby. They really enjoyed being in the strollers, cruising down the side walks, looking in the stores, cars beeping and people walking by. We saw other parents there with there children, sitting on benches gabbing it up. A few people tried to talk to us when they saw the kids, Colene says to one lady, “No speak Kazak”. I started cracking up… So going forward we just say, “Do you speak English?” Sometimes folks here surprise you as they know a little English. I just amazes me that people in other countries, especially ones that are not typically touristy, learn English. Like any adult in the US takes time to learn Russian, Kazak or Chinese. Yeah right.
So for Saturday and Sunday we are just apartment bound and will just stick around here and take some walks. Next week we have a few errands to run so I am sure Colene will have a lot to write about. That’s enough for me, enjoy today’s pics and we will catch up with you later.
